Dreams In Amber Refrains
CHAPTER 20 Heather checked her dress, which was a sleeveless scooped neck tank dress with more than its fair share of body hugging Lycra, then quickly checked her makeup in the compact. She straightened her back, stuck out her chest and knocked on the door with solid, hard raps. When he opened the door, he stood perfectly still for a minute as if he had been photographed and framed for one of those disgusting posters of jocks in their underwear. All he needed was the damn ball in his hand because his chest was bare and suitably sweaty and his shorts were skimpy and plastered to his thighs leaving little to the imagination. “Are you alone?” “I was.” She strutted past him into the living room, which was really a gym masquerading as a regular room. “Your wit astounds me. I want to talk to you about last night. Your behavior was, shall we say, inappropriate.” She heard him growl then slam the door. He closed the distance between them quickly. “What do you want, Heather?” She stopped walking and turned to face him. “I just told you.” “No. You didn’t. Because if you are here to give me some lecture about last night, you can leave the same way you came in and twice as fast.” “Maybe you should put some clothes on and try to pretend to be at least civilized.” “It’s damn six o’clock in the fucking morning. I was doing my workout.” She narrowed her eyes and looked up at him with tight lips and her arms crossed. “It’s always some excuse with you.” He exhaled and ran the tip of his tongue across his upper teeth as he stared down at her. “I haven’t had my coffee yet which means I’m a little testy. I suggest we postpone this little discussion to maybe….let’s see….next year this time. You know the way out.” Heather broke eye contact and glanced around the room. “Place hasn’t changed much.” “Some reason why it should?” “Females usually like to put their mark on a man’s house. Kind of like the bitch version of peeing on the post.” He furrowed his brow then studied her for a minute. “What is this about, Heather?” “I’ve already told you.” He stared her straight in the eye then his gaze drifted along her body with no attempt to hide what he was doing. She spread her legs slightly and then rubbed her ear. His gaze lingered at the point in her dress where her nipples jutted out like two round rocks then moved directly to her crotch and along her legs. Slowly he lifted his eyes and met hers again. “So what’s going on Heather? Your new boy-toy not playing along? Can’t get him to scratch that itch you get? Trying to play hard to get, is he?” “You are such a jerk.” “Spent all night tossing and turning in a deep sweat, didn’t you? I bet you’re flowing like a waterfall right now.” “What makes you think you can talk to me like that? Have you forgotten that I’m Carl Shuttlesworth’s daughter? We own you.” He smiled at her then folded his arms over his chest so that his muscles seem to grow two sizes and cocked his head to the right. “That door is closed Heather. You know what that means. It isn’t locked from the inside. All you have to do is open it and walk out of here but if you stay…” “What?” “If you stay, you know the rules. I get what I want, how I want it and when I want it. But begging is allowed.” She turned away from him and looked around the room. She needed to get herself under control and bring him down a notch. “Did you sleep with Robyn last night?” “Door is closed, Heather. I don’t answer questions I don’t want to answer. My house, my rules.” She turned toward him again. “What in the world could you see in her? She’s nothing… She’s not…” “What? You?” “Not even in the same universe. I know what you like and I’m not scared to please you.” He made a loud explosive sound that passed for laughter. “Since when? You don’t give a damn about me. Don’t try to play me, Heather. What matters to you is that I know how to make your eyes roll back in your head and rock your world. Found anybody else who can do that?” She stared at him and took a deep breath. “Don’t lie because if you say, yes, then you know what I’m going to tell you to do next.” “No. Only you.” “I’m not sure if I heard you?” “Only you, damn it.” “I think you better come closer because I’m having a hard time hearing you.” “Maybe you should take a shower first.” “Yeah, right. You’re so hot from the sight and smell of me all I have to do is touch you to send you straight to the big O without stopping at Go.” “When are you going to touch me?” “When I want to and how I want to.” “I can’t wait much longer.” He slipped his hand under the strap of her dress and pulled the top down to her waist. She wasn’t wearing a bra. He stared at her bare breast. “Got on any panties?” “No.” “I see you learned from last time. I like a smart woman. I like it a lot.” She pressed her body against his. She hoped her nipples were hard enough to scratch him. “Please shut up and kiss me.” “Only because you said please.” When he finally kissed her, she felt as if she was going to melt. His lips were like fire to her and his hand actually scorched her as he reached down and lifted her leg. But it was going to be a long morning. She shivered thinking of what he would have her do before she could taste the full treatment. The things he would make her do… ========== Heather let the water from the showerhead caress her body. She was going to have to wash every last bit of Treyscott’s scent off of her. That wild, musky animal odor he radiated earlier had made her nipples so hard and her vagina so wet that she would have crawled across hot coals on her knees to get to him. He had loved her long and hard but she was still not satisfied. She craved him so much that washing his scent away was making her cry but she couldn’t have it on her. Not when she was hunting other game. And she couldn’t let him satisfy her completely because she might not be able to leave. And she had to leave him. There was no way she would ever let Bryan Treyscott own her. Never. She was disappointed when she stepped out of the shower, walked into the bedroom and found her dress neatly folded on the bed next to her purse and her shoes just below them on the floor. Why did he have to be so sweet? This was the part of him that drove her insane. If the dress had been made of a woven fabric, it would probably be in shreds because of the way he ripped at it until she was totally naked. How could he use her body the way he did and then be so loving to her? So careful with her? So gentle? “Brought you some coffee. Two sugars. No cream. The way you like it.” He was dressed in jeans and a soft yellow Henley t-shirt that brought out the highlights in his hair. He looked freshly scrubbed and so handsome she hated the sight of him. “I don’t want any damn coffee. It’s almost three o’clock in the afternoon. I have work to do.” He put the cup of coffee on the dresser. “Who’s stopping you?” She waited to see if he would leave and when he didn’t she dropped the towel and stood naked in front of him for a minute. She picked up the dress and slipped it over her head then slipped on her shoes. She checked her purse for her compact then walked into the bathroom and finished drying her hair. She put on her makeup then strolled back into the guest bedroom. “We are supposed to pickup Manning at six. I need to go back to the hotel in Llanview and change clothes. Will you drive me?” “I doubt it.” “What’s wrong, Bryan? Didn’t I say please loud enough for you?” She saw the wave of irritation sweep across his face. Had she pushed him too hard? Would he feel compelled to remind her again of his rules? “What’s the deal with him? Why is DC so hot on letting him buy into the team?” She sighed. It was just like him to wimp out on her. They could have been late getting to Llanview if he had made her stay. If he hadn’t given her a choice other than to do what he wanted. “He’s just another rich sucker that DC happens to like. Go figure.” “What’s he to you?” “Why do you care?” “Look, Heather, I wasn’t the one who broke it off. You were the one who…” “I don’t want to talk about that damn wedding again. Sorry if I hurt your feelings but you need to get over it…should have been over it two years ago. If I hear one more time about your friends and family waiting at the church, or about the bad publicity, or…” “Just a cold hearted bitch, aren’t you?” “I never claimed to be otherwise.” “Except with me. I don’t think a damn thing has changed except you are more scared than ever. You still love me.” “No. I do not. And I don’t have time for this. Let’s get going.” “No.” She glared at him. He was really getting on her nerves. “I’m not having sex with you, if that’s what you’re thinking. Sorry if you weren’t satisfied.” “You started this. Now you’re going to finish it. If you sell that team to Manning, I’m going to quit.” “You can’t do that.” “Try me.” “I’m leaving.” “After.” She tried to walk past him but she looked into his eyes that were hard as stones and felt her knees go weak. “Did you hear me, Heather? Don’t make me have to tell you twice.” She felt her body tingle at the sound of his voice. “Here in front of me. Now.” She stepped in front of him and looked up at him. He just stared at her. Finally, she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. He made her lower her arms then pulled at the straps of her dress and yanked the top down. She moaned and threw herself against him. He kissed her hard but then stepped back and pushed her away. “So I can have you sexually anyway I want but when I talk about what I feel you run for cover.” She glared at him then sighed loudly. She pulled up the top of her dress then fluffed her hair. “Getting involved with you was a mistake, Bryan. Why can’t you just accept that? I tried but it was just wrong.” “I loved you, Heather.” She stepped back further. “See, this is why I don’t come more often. Why do you always try to ruin it?” He sucked his teeth then shook his head. “Couldn’t tell you if I tried. But don’t worry. I won’t do it again.” She smiled but then caught the look in his eyes and inhaled sharply. Something was different. A wall had been thrown up between them in the space of a second. She couldn’t see through it or around it. “I wasn’t kidding about Manning and I’m not kidding about this either. Don’t come here again. Understand?” “Your loss.” “Two years too late. And don’t worry, Heather. You’re safe. I don’t want to marry you and I suspect nobody else does or will either.” His tone set her teeth on edge. She looked up at him but he turned and walked away. “Come on,” he said over his shoulder. “I’ll walk you to the door.” Chapter 21 Dreams In Amber Refrains FAN FICTION |
